Banjocomet serves as a dedicated and comprehensive website focused on the Banjo-Kazooie and Yooka-Laylee franchises, offering information, guides, and the latest news. The site aims to function as a centralized knowledge source for the gaming community while gathering extensive information on these iconic games. My inspiration for creating the website came from a childhood love for video games, especially Banjo-Kazooie. The charming gameplay, unique characters, and engaging storyline sparked a deep appreciation for the franchise and ignited my desire to share that knowledge with others. Initially, the site focused solely on Banjo-Kazooie but later expanded to include Yooka-Laylee after its announcement as a spiritual successor. Playing through Yooka-Laylee transported me back to my childhood, as the game’s similarities and nostalgic feel captivated me, leading to the addition of information, detailed guides, and news coverage for this franchise. Today, the site strives to be the ultimate destination for Banjo-Kazooie and Yooka-Laylee enthusiasts. With extensive information, in-depth guides, and current news, Banjocomet serves as a resource providing a comprehensive knowledge base for gamers.

» BK-Discover (2005-2010)

In 2005, with a vivid imagination and passion for games, especially Banjo-Kazooie, I decided to create a website catering to Banjo-Kazooie fans worldwide. Despite humble beginnings, the site contained substantial information about various locations in the Banjo-Kazooie games. Finding the perfect name proved challenging until I settled on BK-Discover. A few weeks after launching, I noticed activity on the site and added a guestbook for visitor feedback. The responses were overwhelmingly positive, with many visitors encouraging me to expand the site by offering more information and guides about other elements within the games. This feedback motivated me to create additional sections and write in-depth guides covering numerous aspects of the Banjo-Kazooie games. As BK-Discover grew in popularity, my enthusiasm and motivation increased. By late 2010, I took a major step to overhaul the site with a new look aligning with the Banjo-Kazooie aesthetic. I incorporated feedback from visitors worldwide and worked diligently to create a site the Banjo-Kazooie community would enjoy. Later, the new design proved successful, helping BK-Discover continue growing in both content and popularity over the past years.

» BK-Central (2010-2021)

One year into improving my Banjo-Kazooie website, I unveiled a completely transformed version to the community. This update went beyond new guides to include multiple wallpapers, artwork, and other multimedia from the franchise. During development, I renamed the site to BK-Central, reflecting the expansion of content beyond guides. As the site continued growing, I added pages with in-game content such as soundtracks to enhance user experience. The community responded positively, appreciating the range of content and guides on BK-Central. However, some visitors preferred the previous design, noting certain elements were not positioned optimally. Taking this feedback into account, I continued making improvements. In 2018, I realized the site was entirely in German, limiting access for non-German speakers. I considered translating everything into English, but found the task incredibly time-consuming and overwhelming. Despite this challenge, I remained determined to create a site accessible to a wider audience regardless of language. The journey of creating BK-Central involved continuous learning and growth, with visitor feedback encouraging me to continue working on it. Although translation wasn’t feasible then, I stayed committed to building a site catering to a more diverse audience in the future.

» Banjocomet (2022-2024)

In 2022, during a cold night at home working on website prototypes for fun, one particular design evoked nostalgia for Banjo-Kazooie and pleased me greatly. As time passed, I added new content and useful features, dreaming of bigger plans for what I called BK-Universe. Needing a permanent name, I brainstormed and created Banjocomet. My next step involved changing hosting providers and building a brand-new site based on my prototype. I aimed to include all previous features while adding new ones like a comment system for news posts. During development, I translated all text elements from German to English, making the site accessible globally. After seven months of hard work, I published a preview in early October. However, I quickly realized the site performance was unsatisfactory, loading slowly due to poor server quality and inefficient plugins. For several months afterward, the site remained offline while I rebuilt everything from scratch. The premium plans from my previous provider were too expensive for upgrading bandwidth, and I couldn’t download or backup Banjocomet in any way. Consequently, I recreated the entire website using WordPress, which took considerable time. The effort proved worthwhile, and since late 2022, Banjocomet has operated on new, faster servers. I take pride in these accomplishments and look forward to continuing to update and grow Banjocomet in the future.
