Eyrie is a friendly eagle in Banjo-Kazooie who lives in Click Clock Wood. Players help raise Eyrie from an egg to a fully grown eagle throughout all four seasons of the world. In spring, Banjo and Kazooie break open Eyrie’s pink egg in his nest at the top of the tree, but the newborn bird tells them he needs to sleep for the entire season and cannot be disturbed yet. By summer, Eyrie has hatched and is very hungry, asking Banjo and Kazooie to bring him caterpillars. Players need to feed him 5 caterpillars, which can be found crawling around Click Clock Wood, with each caterpillar helping Eyrie grow bigger and stronger for the next season. In autumn, Eyrie’s appetite has grown even larger, and this time players must feed him 10 caterpillars to satisfy his hunger. After feeding him the required amount, players may sometimes fall through his nest, which happens because Eyrie has grown so large that he pushes Banjo and Kazooie through the bottom of the nest. By winter, he has fully matured into an adult eagle and is ready to fly, rewarding Banjo and Kazooie with a Jiggy as thanks for all the help throughout the seasons before flying away. Unlike other characters in Click Clock Wood, Eyrie never reappears in previous seasons once winter arrives. As a baby, Eyrie has peach-colored feet with sharp talons and orange feathers that turn yellow near his belly. He has small wings that prevent him from flying, green eyes, and a peach-colored beak, along with a diaper held together by a blue safety pin. When fully grown in winter, Eyrie is noticeably larger with golden yellow feet and brown feathers covering most of his body, while the feathers on his head are white and his beak has turned yellow. Two large white feathers sit on top of his head, his eyes have transformed into a blue color, and he no longer wears his white diaper, resembling a Bald Eagle, one of America’s national animals. In Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, a portrait of Eyrie can be found near the Mumbo’s Mountain stonehenge in Banjoland.
