Mumbo Crates

Mumbo Crates are small pink boxes found throughout Showdown Town, the main hub in Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts. These crates feature Mumbo Jumbo’s skull icon on their sides and contain various vehicle parts for Banjo and Kazooie. While many of these parts are common, others are quite rare and can only be discovered in crates hidden in difficult locations. Some of these crates are guarded by ghostly pig characters who wait for a special signal. To access these protected crates, players must first acquire a Kazooie like Horn by defeating Gruntilda Winkybunion in the Terrarium of Terror. Once players have earned this horn, they can use it to banish the spirits and grab the crates with Kazooie’s Magic Wrench. Beyond the standard Mumbo Crates, players can find Stop ‘n’ Swop crates in Showdown Town after finding specific items in the Xbox Live Arcade version of Banjo Kazooie. These containers are color coded based on the item they contain and offer exclusive novelty parts such as Fuzzy Dice. Most of these vehicle parts appear only once in the game, with the flag being the sole exception as it can be obtained twice. Although the game provides hints about where to find these crates, locating them typically requires thorough exploration and careful consideration. Players should note that some vehicle parts cannot be acquired through regular gameplay and are exclusively used for specific challenges. These restricted items include for example Gruntilda’s Dingpot seat, the three spheres in Critics Say No, Pikelet’s police seat in A Sight for Poor Eyes, and the ignited torch in The Jiggosseum Torch.
