The Space Ship Form is the fifth available transformation in Yooka-Laylee, found within Galleon Galaxy after players collect the Mollycool positioned on top of the searchlight of the Lightspeed House and give it to Dr. Puzz to power her D.N.Ray transformation device. The Lightspeed House serves as the central landmark structure within Galleon Galaxy, requiring players to navigate to its upper levels to collect the world’s Mollycool. Once transformed, Yooka and Laylee assume the appearance of a pirate galleon where Yooka’s body forms the bow and stern with his eyes positioned on the steering wheel, while the hull features six glowing portholes along the sides, an orange keel near the bottom, and a lantern mounted on the rear section. Laylee’s body transforms into the ship’s mast, sails, and crow’s nest, creating the vessel’s structure and wind-catching apparatus for maritime navigation. The deck contains three cannon systems that fire different projectile types including ice rounds, fire blasts, and explosive bombs, each serving specific combat and puzzle-solving functions throughout Galleon Galaxy’s various challenges and environmental obstacles. The primary capability involves safe navigation across water surfaces that would normally cause damage to Yooka and Laylee in their standard forms, enabling access to maritime areas and island chains scattered throughout Galleon Galaxy’s environment. The ship includes a boost function activated through the power meter system, allowing increased movement speed across water surfaces for meeting time requirements in specific challenges. The transformation proves essential for confronting Planette, Galleon Galaxy’s boss encounter, which represents the only boss battle in Yooka-Laylee requiring players to remain in transformed state throughout the fight. Planette rotates between three distinct surface types including rock, ice, and lava sections, each corresponding to the ship’s three cannon types and requiring strategic selection based on the boss’s current configuration and attack patterns. Additional applications include participating in racing challenges against Nimble, who reappears from Tribalstack Tropics with increased difficulty and enhanced racing capabilities that demand precise navigation and boost management to achieve victory. The Space Ship form provides access to expanded sections of Galleon Galaxy including remote islands and combat zones that remain otherwise unreachable.
