The T-Rex Form is the fifth available transformation in the sequel game Banjo-Tooie, found within Terrydactyland after players provide a Glowbo to Humba Wumba at her wigwam located on the far side of the central mountain from the entrance, positioned near Dippy’s water hole. A Glowbo can be found almost right outside Mumbo’s Hut and must be thrown into the pool before players can initiate the transformation process. Once transformed, Banjo takes on the appearance of a Tyrannosaurus Rex that retains his characteristic blue backpack and yellow shorts while gaining access to two distinct size variations depending on the state of Humba Wumba’s wigwam. The default transformation produces a Baby T-Rex roughly the same size as Banjo, providing access to confined spaces and the ability to interact with other dinosaurs throughout the world, though Soarasaurus will attack indiscriminately while others such as Bargasaurus cause damage upon contact despite remaining non-aggressive. The Baby T-Rex initially can’t roar but must learn this ability from any Bargasaurus found scattered throughout the world, after which the roar can be used to enter doors featuring the Baby T-Rex silhouette. The advanced application requires accessing a small cave to the right of Humba’s Wigwam that leads higher on the mountain, where a specific roar sequence consisting of two short roars, one long roar, one short roar and two long roars must be performed to unlock a cage containing a Jiggy, with this sequence corresponding to Morse code for item. When Mumbo casts his Enlarge spell on Humba Wumba’s wigwam using a the Mumbo Pad located outside the wigwam, the transformation shifts to produce a Daddy T-Rex, a giant dinosaur comparable in size to a cliff that possesses complete invulnerability to enemies and environmental damage. The Daddy T-Rex can kill enemies through both his thunderous roar and by simply stepping on smaller opponents, while his intimidating presence frightens even the bravest cavemen that the Baby form cannot affect, including the Unga Bunga’s guarding various caves such as the Oogle Boogle Cave. The T-Rex Form features unique limitations for each form, with the Baby T-Rex suffering from a reduced health and lack of defensive capabilities compared to normal Banjo, while the Daddy T-Rex cannot use warp pads due to his enormous size and remains restricted to the outdoor sections of Terrydactyland. Both forms serve specific puzzle-solving functions through their respective switches, with Baby T-Rex accessing tight spaces and caves while Daddy T-Rex handles tasks requiring intimidation or brute force against larger obstacles and enemies. The Daddy T-Rex notably displays an unexplained oxygen bar in the game interface, likely a remnant from Rare’s development process that was never removed from the final version. Unlike most other transformations in Banjo-Tooie, the T-Rex forms cannot traverse between different worlds while maintaining their state, though their specialized abilities make them indispensable for complete exploration of Terrydactyland’s challenges and tribal encounters. Within Banjoland, the museum world featured in Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, a model of the Daddy T-Rex appears in a display case, serving as a display of the transformation that fulfilled Mumbo’s promise from Banjo-Kazooie about creating a dinosaur transformation.
