Sir Scoffsalot is a pig knight who belongs to the Knights of Hamalot alongside Lady Lootsalot, Sir Shootsalot and Lady Leapalot. He appears in Tribalstack Tropics, Capital Cashino and Galleon Galaxy in Yooka-Laylee, and returns in those worlds in Yooka-Replaylee. His round figure and food-covered equipment distinguish him from the other three knights: he wears chainmail beneath a yellow apron, orange gloves and a belt decorated with doughnuts, and carries candy canes in place of conventional knightly weapons. He repeatedly eats from a candy cane during conversations, interrupting his formal greetings with chewing noises. Laylee immediately connects his appearance with the name he is about to announce, while Scoffsalot proudly introduces himself as a knight. His interest in treasure brings him into each of the group's three shared activities. He starts the search for his companions in the first world, becomes a passenger for the Chopper transformation in the casino, and later carries one of the four keys needed by Shovel Knight. These encounters give him different roles rather than three repetitions of the same task.
Sir Scoffsalot in Tribalstack Tropics
In the original Yooka-Laylee, Scoffsalot waits at the far end of Tribalstack Forest, the wooded area beside Duke's Temple where the torn Pagie's missing pieces can also be found. Clear the enemies around him and speak to him to begin the Knights of Hamalot's treasure hunt. The search can be completed before expanding Tribalstack Tropics and does not require a transformation. Scoffsalot gives a riddle about wet feet and a Corplet settlement, directing Yooka and Laylee toward Lady Lootsalot beneath the wooden bridge leading into the Tribal Village. She is the second knight in the chain, so start with Scoffsalot rather than searching for her independently. Her clue leads to Sir Shootsalot behind Rextro's Arcade Machine, and his imperfect rhyme points toward the chamber beneath Rampo's Temple. Follow the canal through the bottom of that temple and enter Rampo's Treasure Chamber to meet Lady Leapalot, the final knight. Speaking to her after the preceding conversations opens the Cagie containing the quest's Pagie. The reward is collected in that chamber; returning to Scoffsalot is not the step that releases it. The route links the forest, village bridge, arcade and canal, and each conversation supplies the information for the next stop. Although Rampo's name appears in the final clue, the treasure chamber is reached from below, separately from the boss's ramp above. Scoffsalot's promised expedition therefore ends with Leapalot guarding the treasure rather than with a fight against Rampo. His preoccupation with eating also survives the hunt in his promotional dialogue, where he worries that Leapalot may have already eaten the celebratory meal.
Sir Scoffsalot in Capital Cashino
Scoffsalot can next be found near the large Yooka-Laylee pachinko machine, around the side of the House of Cards. His request here depends on the Chopper transformation. Win the world's Mollycool from the slot machine near Dr. Puzz by stopping all three reels on Yooka and Laylee, then give it to her and use the D.N.Ray. Approach Scoffsalot in helicopter form and agree to transport him. His destination is the small storage room above and behind Rextro's arcade area, and the original game's timer allows 40 seconds to reach its landing ring. Gain height, cross toward the arcade and fly through the elevated opening into the alcove. Reaching the arcade floor alone does not finish the journey; the Chopper must enter the marked ring inside the upper room. A successful trip produces five Casino Tokens at the exit, which the player must collect. Scoffsalot thanks the duo for the flight, then explains on a later conversation that he expected to find a supply of candy weapons and has instead arrived among unwanted junk. Running out of time brings an invitation to retry. His fare is one of four independent knight transport jobs, each paying five tokens. In Yooka-Laylee the Casino Banker exchanges ten tokens for one Pagie, so Scoffsalot's five-token reward contributes half of that exchange rather than awarding a whole Pagie by itself.
Sir Scoffsalot in Galleon Galaxy
The final original-game meeting takes place beside the small pond on Skull Island, near the cave containing Shovel Knight and the area occupied by Rextro. Skull Island belongs to the expanded version of Galleon Galaxy, so first expand its Grand Tome in Hivory Towers for 15 Pagies. Shovel Knight is investigating a locked treasure vault and explains that the four Knights of Hamalot each possess one of its keys. Scoffsalot offers to divide any treasure the duo discover, keeping the larger share for himself, but his key is obtained by exploiting his exposed stomach. Learn Reptile Rush from Trowzer in Capital Cashino for 80 Quills if it has not already been purchased, then line up in front of Scoffsalot and release the charged rolling attack into his belly. The impact makes him drop the key behind him, where it can be collected and returned to Shovel Knight. Scoffsalot responds by interpreting the disturbance as a sign that it is time to eat again. One key does not open the vault. The remaining three come from Lootsalot in the blocked hut, Leapalot on the raised ground and Shootsalot near the arcade, each with a different solution. Once Shovel Knight has all four, he opens the vault so the duo can collect the Pagie inside. Scoffsalot neither hands over that Pagie himself nor requires the island's Pirate Ship transformation for his individual key challenge.
Sir Scoffsalot in Yooka-Replaylee
Yooka-Replaylee retains Scoffsalot's three-world role while changing the surrounding progression. In Tribalstack Tropics he is still at the back of the forest near the central temple, and speaking to him begins the chain through Lootsalot under the wooden walkway, Shootsalot above Rextro's arcade and Leapalot in the chamber below Rampo's Temple. The final conversation gives access to the Pagie there. In Capital Cashino, his pickup point is near Dr. Puzz, and he requests a flight to the little room above Rextro's arcade. Obtain the Mollycool and use the D.N.Ray before accepting the transport job in Chopper form. Delivery still pays five tokens, but Cashital Zee now exchanges five tokens for a Pagie, making this fare sufficient for one exchange. In Galleon Galaxy, find Scoffsalot beside the pond near Shovel Knight's locked door and dash into his stomach to dislodge his key. It remains part of the four-key vault objective. Replaylee starts with the duo's moves unlocked and its worlds expanded, so the original 80-Quill move purchase and 15-Pagie expansion payment do not apply to this version of the encounter.
Additional Information
Scoffsalot is also the answer to an original-game Quack-Fire Quiz question that asks for the name of the hungry pig in Tribalstack Tropics. The question draws attention to the same appetite expressed by his apron, edible equipment and dialogue. His name combines the idea of scoffing food with the knightly naming pattern shared by his companions, while Hamalot substitutes a reference to pork into Camelot. The official Character of the Day promotion, preserved by Perfectly Nintendo, likewise pairs his concern about treasure with a concern about steak and lobster. These jokes establish his appetite directly; the games do not supply a separate history for his knighthood or explain where the Knights' kingdom is located.
