Sir Shootsalot

Sir Shootsalot banner placeholder

Sir Shootsalot is a pig knight and a member of the Knights of Hamalot in Yooka-Laylee and Yooka-Replaylee. He appears alongside Sir Scoffsalot, Lady Lootsalot and Lady Leapalot in Tribalstack Tropics, Capital Cashino and Galleon Galaxy, taking part in their treasure hunt, casino transport jobs and involvement with Shovel Knight's locked vault. He is taller and slimmer than Scoffsalot, with small tusks, a red outfit and red armour edged in yellow. Orange gloves and boots accompany his matching headgear, and he carries a bow whose arrows end in suction cups rather than pointed heads. Despite this conspicuous equipment, he initially claims to be a birdwatcher when Yooka and Laylee ask whether he is a knight. His later conversations continue the joke of explaining away what he is doing, including a supposed interest in the casino's carpet. Shootsalot's bow and the arcade landmark help identify him in the first world's riddles, while his final-world encounter requires very different tactics between the original game and Replaylee.

Sir Shootsalot in Tribalstack Tropics

Shootsalot is the third stop in the original Knights of Hamalot treasure hunt. Speak to Scoffsalot at the end of Tribalstack Forest, then find Lootsalot beneath the bridge leading to the Tribal Village. Her clue connects a bow-carrying companion with an island high score, directing the duo to Rextro's arcade area. Shootsalot stands behind the Arcade Machine near the stone pillar and surrounding walls. When questioned, he denies belonging to the Knights and describes himself as an ordinary birdwatcher. Laylee points out that his armour makes the disguise unconvincing, after which he admits his identity and supplies the next clue. His intended destination is the tomb below the world's ramp expert, meaning Rampo's Treasure Chamber beneath Rampo's Temple. He spoils the rhyme by ending his clue with a different word, and Yooka corrects him; Shootsalot then offers to repeat the clue if they forget. Follow the canal that passes through the base of the temple and enter the chamber to find Lady Leapalot. Speaking to her after the preceding knights opens the Cagie and makes the Pagie available. Shootsalot himself gives information rather than a separate collectible, and his bow is not a weapon the player receives. This search can be completed in the unexpanded world. Reaching the chamber from the canal does not require climbing Rampo's later boss ramp, so the clue's reference to him should not send the player into a separate battle.

Sir Shootsalot in Capital Cashino

In the original Capital Cashino, Shootsalot waits near Dr. Puzz beneath the roulette passage. He initially explains his presence as an interest in the carpet, then asks whether the arriving helicopter is a complimentary taxi for knights. To undertake the fare, win the Mollycool from the slot machine near Dr. Puzz by lining up three Yooka-Laylee symbols, give it to her and transform at the D.N.Ray. Speak to Shootsalot in Chopper form and accept the job. He says he has left his bus pass at home, but supplies a riddle instead of a direct address: the important landmark is a tree on the golf course. The original journey allows 40 seconds. Leave Dr. Puzz's room, cross to the raised course and rise to the red-and-white landing ring on top of the tree near the hole. Enter that ring with the passenger before the timer ends to finish the challenge. The reward is five Casino Tokens, which must be collected rather than being a Pagie delivered during the conversation. Shootsalot is pleased with the improved vantage point and continues claiming that the view is useful for admiring the carpet. Failure brings an offer to try again. The original Casino Banker requires ten tokens per Pagie, so this fare contributes five toward that total; the other three Knights' fares are separate jobs with their own destinations.

Sir Shootsalot in Galleon Galaxy

Shootsalot reappears close to Rextro's Arcade Machine on Skull Island in the expanded Galleon Galaxy. Expanding the Grand Tome in Hivory Towers for 15 Pagies adds this island and its four Knights. Shovel Knight, in the cave nearby, needs their four keys to open a treasure vault and gives information about recovering them. Shootsalot offers to share the treasure if the duo find its location, but his own key is released through a precise sequence of attacks in the original game. Begin with Tail Twirl against his body, follow with Buddy Slam on top of him, and finish with Sonar 'Splosion. The order matters: the last move alone is not the complete solution. Tail Twirl is part of the duo's starting attacks, Buddy Slam is taught by Trowzer in Tribalstack Tropics for 30 Quills, and Sonar 'Splosion becomes available from him in Moodymaze Marsh for 60 Quills. Learn the missing moves before attempting the sequence. When it succeeds, collect the key dropped behind Shootsalot and return it to Shovel Knight. Shootsalot responds by threatening the duo with his bow if they repeat the treatment. Three other keys are still required, from Scoffsalot, Lootsalot and Leapalot, before Shovel Knight opens the vault and the player can reach its Pagie. This is an attack puzzle involving an existing character, rather than a conventional boss fight with a health bar or a bow upgrade for Yooka.

Sir Shootsalot in Yooka-Replaylee

In Yooka-Replaylee's Tribalstack Tropics, Shootsalot waits on the flat rock above Rextro's Arcade Machine. Consult Scoffsalot and Lootsalot first, then climb to him for the clue leading to Leapalot underneath Rampo's Temple. The casino pickup point also changes: look near the fountain against the art gallery wall, close to the Pagie Piece painting. His Chopper fare still ends on top of a golf-course tree and pays five tokens, enough for one Pagie at Cashital Zee's revised five-token exchange. The largest difference concerns his Galleon Galaxy key. Approach his area near Rextro from the rear, use camouflage and follow the clear path behind him quietly. If he notices or hears the duo, he takes the exposed key away. The goal is to collect it undetected, replacing the original Tail Twirl, Buddy Slam and Sonar 'Splosion sequence. Return it as part of Shovel Knight's four-key objective to open the vault. Replaylee starts with moves unlocked and worlds expanded, so there is no need to reproduce the original move purchases or expansion payment before attempting these encounters.

Additional Information

Shootsalot's equipment supplies several of his jokes. Lootsalot's first-world clue identifies his bow, while the visible suction cups make that weapon less threatening than his later warning suggests. His attempted birdwatcher disguise and his stated enthusiasm for carpet both contrast with the knightly role he is trying to conceal. In the official Character of the Day promotion preserved by Perfectly Nintendo, he also dismisses help from an ordinary lizard on the grounds that he is conducting knight business. His name uses the act of shooting in the Knights' shared Lancelot-style naming pattern. None of those conversations establishes a separate military campaign or identifies a ruler whom he serves, so his documented activities remain the treasure hunts and casino journey shown in the games.
