The Snowmen are five friendly residents of Glitterglaze Glacier who ask Yooka and Laylee to recover their missing clothes in Yooka-Laylee. Their shared quest takes the duo between the lake, the icy towers, the cliff-top igloos and two different caves. Four of the missing articles are hats, while the fifth is a pair of green pants that its owner also treats as headwear. The snowmen have tall, uneven white bodies, carrot noses, stick arms and broad feet. Their remaining accessories identify the costumes they are trying to complete: a cowboy's belt, a pirate's eyepatch, a witch's broom, a gentleman's monocle and one embarrassed snowman's leaf. Each has a conversation and a restored costume after being helped. These friendly quest givers are distinct from the hostile Snow Corplets encountered throughout the same world. In the original game, helping all five snowmen earns one Pagie, with the final recipient handing over the reward. They return in Yooka-Replaylee with individual names, revised item locations and a separate Pagie for each completed request. Knowing which version is being played matters, because finding an original snow pile will not necessarily lead to the same piece of clothing in the remake.
The Missing Hats in Yooka-Laylee
The entire original quest can be completed during the first visit to Glitterglaze Glacier, before paying to expand its Grand Tome. The essential preparation is unlocking Dr. Puzz's Snowplough transformation. Near the Capital B statue and the Glittertrio Towers, use Bomb Berries from the nearby plant to break the weak stone at the back of a tower and reveal the world's Mollycool. Bring it to Dr. Puzz on the shore below the towers, then step into her D.N.Ray. The resulting vehicle can drive up steep ice and boost through the large piles of snow covering the five lost items. Its low traction makes the narrow elevated paths awkward, so line up each crossing before accelerating. Falling into the water changes the duo back and means returning to Dr. Puzz if more snow still needs clearing. The clothing can be gathered together before any delivery, which saves repeated trips to the machine. Once all five pieces have been collected, return to normal form and visit their owners. Some snowmen refuse to conduct their conversations with a plough, and the cowboy's underwater entrance requires the duo's swimming ability. Finding an item and handing it over are separate steps. Each successful delivery restores that snowman's costume, but the Pagie appears only after all five have been helped. The player can choose the delivery order; the snowman helped last provides the shared reward.
The Cowboy Snowman
The Cowboy Snowman waits at the back of Glitterglaze Cave, on the small ramp beyond its slippery floor. Reach this room by visiting the Igloo Cliffs, entering the stream beside the igloo settlement and swimming through its submerged cave entrance. This is a different room from Crystalline Cave, which contains the coloured crystal puzzle and the witch snowman. The cowboy's missing brown hat is buried near Vendi, in the lower area across from the world's starting route and below the Frozen Path entrance. Clear that pile while driving the Snowplough, then return in duo form to swim into the owner's cave. Crystalline Cave provides a route back toward Vendi for the vehicle; trying to descend the icy Frozen Path also brings the risk of slipping into water. The owner's large belt buckle and lasso establish his western costume even before the hat is returned. After receiving it, he admits that dressing as a cowboy is a weekend activity, giving the completed outfit a joke beyond the retrieval itself. Yooka-Replaylee calls him Plough Roy and places him outdoors beneath a tree. His hat is on a platform with another tree partway up the large ice ramp. Collect it there and return to Plough Roy for his own Pagie. The remake no longer sends the player into the original cowboy's little underwater-accessed room for this hand-in.
The Naked Snowman
The snowman at the upper end of the original Frozen Path, beside its exit toward the Igloo Cliffs, has lost the most unusual hat of the group. He is left with three buttons and a leaf covering his lower body, and his conversation repeatedly expresses embarrassment about being exposed. Although he blames a blizzard for taking his hat, the missing item is a pair of pants. To recover them, take the Snowplough up the thin icy routes and floating platforms around the Glittertrio Towers. Look for the snow pile on a high platform near the western tower, on the side closest to Crystalline Cave. Boost through it and collect the green clothing before making the return trip to the Frozen Path. The pants have contrasting trim, a belt and a purple patch. Returning them completes his headwear instead of covering the part of his body he was worried about. His grateful reaction includes the prospect of being allowed back into public. In Yooka-Replaylee he is named Panthony and stands across the stream in the raised Igloo Cliffs area reached beyond the brazier passage. Search the nearby igloos by using Buddy Slam on their roofs. One contains the missing pants, which can be carried back to Panthony for an immediate Pagie. Clearing these roofs also overlaps geographically with the search for Clara, but the snowman's clothing reward is a separate task.
Shiver E. Timbers
Shiver E. Timbers is the pirate of the group, identified by an eyepatch and a broad belt with a prominent buckle. His name combines the familiar pirate expression with the act of shivering in the cold. In the original game he stands on a small icy island in the lake below the side cliffs near the Glittertrio Towers. The nearby numbered moving-platform challenge is a useful landmark when looking for his position from the shore. His black tricorn is buried much higher up, on a side ledge connected to the Icymetric Path. Drive the Snowplough up the icy route toward the palace, follow the bend around the tower and take the branch to the right across the floating platform. Googly Eyes guard the ledge containing the snow pile. Clear it, take the hat and return to the pirate's island in normal form. He thanks the duo in keeping with his pirate speech, and supplies the original quest's Pagie if his is the fifth completed delivery. Yooka-Replaylee retains the name Shiver E. Timbers but brings his missing hat much closer to him. Find the pirate on the raised ground beside Dr. Puzz, near the base of a tower. Use the Snowplough to burst through the snow mound on that same raised area and return the hat. The remake allows this completion while still transformed and awards a Pagie for the pirate alone, so the original requirement to revert before every hand-in should not be applied to this encounter.
The Witch Snowman
The Witch Snowman occupies the middle of Crystalline Cave in Yooka-Laylee, near the pillar with Scorchberries and Frostberries. Her broom and scarf make her recognisable before her pointed black hat is restored. The missing hat lies outside the cave, under snow beside the stream on the Igloo Cliffs, between the Frozen Path exit and the approach to Glitterglaze Cave. The shore entrance near Dr. Puzz gives the Snowplough a convenient way into the cliff settlement. Clear the mound and carry the recovered hat back through the cave connections, then speak to its owner in duo form. Her refusal to talk to the transformed plough is itself delivered in rhyme. This rhyming habit continues through her request and her thanks, with another line joking about the dialogue budget. Her witch costume and manner of speaking recall Gruntilda from the Banjo-Kazooie games; the resemblance does not establish any relationship between the characters. In Yooka-Replaylee she is called Hailey and waits beside the lake, near the combat arena. Her hat is underwater near the base of an ice tower. Cross the surrounding ice, dive to retrieve it and bring it back to Hailey for a Pagie. Searching the original Igloo Cliffs snow pile will therefore not solve the remake version of her request.
The Classy Snowman
The Classy Snowman waits at the outer edge of the Igloo Cliffs in the original game, beyond the igloos. His monocle and large purple bow tie mark him as the formal member of the group. He describes a cabaret tour with his friends and worries that the bridge club will refuse him entry without his missing hat. Recovering that black top hat requires a trip to Crystalline Cave. Find the three-way split in the cave's paths and the snow pile guarded by Googly Eyes, then use the Snowplough's boost to uncover the headwear. This is also the cave occupied by the witch, so gathering the top hat and locating her can be combined in the same journey even though the two items belong to different owners. Return to the cliff-top settlement in duo form and approach the gentleman near its edge. If the other four snowmen already have their clothes, this delivery produces the original quest's Pagie. In Yooka-Replaylee he is named Lord Snowmon and has moved down to an ice platform in the water south of Kartos. His top hat rests on another ice island guarded by Capital B's minions. Reach that island, collect the hat and return it to Lord Snowmon for his individual Pagie. His remake position makes the lake the relevant landmark, in place of the original cliff-top igloos.
The Snowmen’s Voices
The five original snowmen have separate voice contributions. The Classy Snowman is attributed to Samuel Bell, the Cowboy Snowman to Joshua Ruark, the Naked Snowman to Lucas Northwood, Shiver E. Timbers to Henry Harris and the Witch Snowman to Alison Scott, also known as CrystalBlazier. Their performances are part of the original game's Be in the Game backer voice contributions. The credits identify Ruark as Bacon and give Bell's full name as Samuel Joseph Darren Bell. Each character's vocal sounds accompany the written dialogue that establishes the costume and personality of that particular snowman. All five contributors are also listed in Yooka-Replaylee's Be in the Game Voice Overs, alongside the returning quest characters' new names and revised tasks.
